Former Hazaribagh MLA Rani Dey passes away at 85

Hazaribagh: Former Hazaribagh MLA, Rani Dey, breathed her last on Thursday in Ranchi, succumbing to various illnesses she had been battling for the past few years. A key figure in the 1974 movement, she passed away at 4 pm in a local hospital in Ranchi, where she had been receiving treatment for the last 10 days.

Rani Dey, who played an active role in the political landscape, served as the MLA from Hazaribagh Legislative Assembly in 1977, having been elected under the Janata Party. Her contributions during the 1974 movement marked her as a dedicated and resilient political figure.

The funeral procession to bid farewell to Rani Dey is scheduled to commence at 11:00 am from her ancestral home in Sadam village, Bokaro district. The last rites will be performed at the Tenughat Dam on the Damodar River, honoring her legacy and commitment to public service.
