Jamshedpur : In a fatal road mishap, a �62-year-old former employee of Tata Steel was killed as the scooty he was riding was hit by a dumper near Chepapool on Mango-Pardih Road under Mango police station area lat e last night.�
The victim Anwar Khan was returning from Mango having consulted a physician.
The dumper was speeding away from the Pardih end and hit the two-wheelers from behind near Chepapool.�
Khan, who was a resident of South Park in Bistupur was rescued and rushed to Tata Main Hospital emergency, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
Officer-in-charge, Mango police station, Laxman Prasad Paswan claimed that the dumper was burnt due to a fire caused by the explosion in the oil tank and not because of the angry people.
“It is a matter of investigation as to for whose fault the mishap took place.� But it is for certain that no one had set the dumper on fire, which was gutted due to the petrol tank burst,” said Paswan.�
Deputy superintendent of police (headquarters-1) Birendra Prasad and officers-in-charge of adjoining police stations arrived at the scene and started controlling �the angry mob.�
The local residents were demanding the administration to stop allowing heavy vehicles from plying on the Mango-Pardih Road.� They had stopped protesting only after the DSP, Prasad announced that no heavy vehicle will ply through the Mango-Pardih .
The body of Khan who was a former committee member of Tata Workers Union was sent to MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem in the morning.�
After the post-mortem, the body was brought to his South Park residence from where it was taken to Dhatkidih graveyard for the burial.
