Former DGP Ajay Kumar Singh appointed Jharkhand RERA chairman

Retired Judge Nalin Kumar named member of Real Estate Regulatory Authority

 Ranchi, July 6: The Jharkhand government has appointed former Director General of Police (DGP) and retired IPS officer Ajay Kumar Singh as the new Chairman of the Jharkhand Real Estate Regulatory Authority (JHARERA). Along with him, retired Principal District and Sessions Judge Nalin Kumar has been appointed as a member of the authority.

The Urban Development and Housing Department issued an official notification on Monday announcing the appointments. The notification was released under the orders of the Governor.

According to the government, the appointments have been made under Sections 20 and 22 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. The state government also granted final approval based on the recommendations of the high-level selection committee constituted under Rule 19 of the Jharkhand Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017.

JHARERA is the state’s regulatory body responsible for overseeing the real estate sector. It ensures the registration and monitoring of real estate projects, promotes transparency in the property market, and protects the interests of homebuyers.

Officials believe that the appointment of Ajay Kumar Singh as Chairman will strengthen the functioning of the authority and improve the implementation of real estate regulations across the state. The inclusion of Nalin Kumar as a member is also expected to enhance the authority’s administrative and legal decision-making. The appointments are aimed at making JHARERA more effective in ensuring accountability, transparency, and greater confidence among homebuyers and developers in Jharkhand.
