Jamshedpur: Five persons were injured in a road accident on the Chakradharpur-Ranchi highway near Argundi village on Sunday. The incident occurred around 1 pm.
Sources said the four-wheeler, a Tata Magic, was on its way to Olidih from Baihatu with nine passengers on board. The passengers had gone to Gadudih to participate in a programme. On their return, they were injured when the vehicle carrying them turned turtle.
The victims were identified as Mukta Gagrai, Sumitra Gagrai, Virang Bodra and Nandu Bodra. They were taken to Chakradharpur Divisional Hospital.
Police said the vehicle driver fled the accident scene apprehending assault by local villagers. They said a case had been registered against the driver in this connection.
