Jamshedpur: Security forces have successfully unearthed five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from a village in a Maoist-affected area of West Singhbhum. The IEDs were planted by Maoists in an attempt to disrupt the peace and security in the area.
During a search on Wednesday morning by the security forces on the rough road leading from Chhotakuidas to Maradiri forest of Goilkera, a naxal-affected police station area of West Singhbhum district, five IED bombs were recovered. Out of these two are four IEDs of 2 kg while one is a pressure bomb of 5 kg.
A senior police official confirmed the report and said that all the recovered IEDs have been destroyed at a safe place. Jawans of CRPF, Jharkhand Jaguar and district police were involved in the search operation.
The security forces received information about the presence of IEDs in the village and immediately launched a search operation. During the search, the security forces found five IEDs buried underground in different locations within the village. The IEDs were made using locally available materials and were intended to cause harm to the security personnel patrolling the area.
“ The discovery of the IEDs is a significant achievement for the security forces, as it has prevented any potential harm to innocent civilians and security personnel. It also sends a strong message to the Maoists that their attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the region will not be tolerated,” the official said.
Following the recovery of the IEDs, the police have reportedly started a combing operation in the surrounding areas to search for any more hidden explosives or any suspicious activities. The operation is being carried out by a team of trained personnel from the local police as well as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The security forces have intensified their efforts to root out Maoists from the area and restore normalcy. They have urged the local population to cooperate with them in their efforts to maintain law and order in the region.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenge of Maoist insurgency in certain areas of West Singhbhum and the importance of continued efforts to counter it. The security forces must remain vigilant and take necessary steps to neutralize any potential threats posed by the Maoists.
The recovery of the IEDs has raised concerns about the threat of Maoist insurgency in the region. The police and security forces have been on high alert in the area and have intensified their efforts to combat any potential threat to public safety and security.
The local authorities have urged the residents of the village and nearby areas to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police immediately. They have also assured the residents that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their safety and security.
