Fishermen Honored on World Fisheries Day in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In celebration of World Fisheries Day, a heartfelt program was organized on Tuesday near the Railway Engineering Colony, orchestrated by the Jharkhand State Nonia Samaj and Roshan Studio located in Adityapur. Although slated to attend as the chief guest, MLA Saryu Rai was unable to make it due to unforeseen circumstances. Nevertheless, the event was graced by the presence of former Zilla Parishad member Kishore Yadav, Noniya community patron Suresh Mahato, and other distinguished guests.

The occasion brought together a significant gathering of fishermen from the surrounding areas, all of whom were recognized and honored with Angavastra, symbolizing respect for their contribution to the fishing community. Special guests were also presented with fish as a gesture of welcome.

Amidst a spirit of camaraderie, participants joined in cutting a celebratory cake, marking the significance of the day dedicated to acknowledging the vital role played by fishermen in our society. Rajesh Chauhan, a member of the organizing committee, expressed that this initiative aimed to honor and uplift the status of fish sellers, recognizing their importance in the social fabric.
