Fish festival celebrated

Chandil: Matsyajivi Swavalambi Cooperative Committee celebrated �fish festival� at Chandil Dam on Monday. The chief guest of the occasion was the state welfare, transport and industry minister Champai Soren.

Local artists presented many traditional dance and musical items before the guests. Soren in his address said the local people displaced by the Chandil Dam should take to pisciculture as a profession. He said the people should take up various traditional ways of earning a livelihood.

He said the people should make it a point to ensure that they are abreast of their rights and duties. Many other dignitaries were present during the programme.
