Jamshedpur : Despite reeling temperature in the city, the first-time voters in the city were brimming with joy and enthusiasm to elect their representatives. But the enthusiasm did not take away the judgment and reasoning regarding why and who they were voting for. Voting for a change was the buzz word.
Incidentally, while the urban posh areas like CH Area, Northern Town may have not seen a high voter turnout in the morning, the youngsters were seen queuing outside the polling booths since 7 am.
A resident of Bistupur Shyamli Virdi (20): I am happy that my first vote went for the Lok Sabha polls. I was waiting to vote because it makes me feel like a responsible adult.
Rohit Kumar a student of Karima City �I am happy to exercise my franchise for the first time for the Lok Sabha polls. I was kept waiting for my turn in standing the queue waiting to vote because it makes me feel like a responsible citizen of the country. I feel like I have achieved something genuine by participating in the polling.
I am also pinning hopes that the candidate for whom I voted will help develop the rural areas of the constituency. It is time to address issues concerning the rural populace. Education, clean drinking water are some of the several issues plaguing our society�.
Aadesh Shukla of Sakchi said � I felt that I should be voting because it is a responsibility of all youngsters. I also wanted to take a step towards bringing about a change. I even urged some of my friends to vote. Sia Lal (23): I got my driving licence a few weeks ago and now this ink on my finger shows that I have voted too.
I feel that it is a big responsibility and I have been able to fulfill it, Aamir Haider noted� I am watching so many TV ads everyday about why should I be voting. This is a right given to me and I should exercise it. I had also enrolled for a first-time voter programme where I came to know about my responsibility towards the country�
Vidit Gupta (25): I do not have a voter ID card so I came with my pan card. But this is the first time that I am voting and I did not wish to miss this chance. I am sure that my vote will make a difference.�
Soumya, First Year student, Intermediate � I am feeling a responsible citizen by casting my vote. I am now a part of the biggest democratic exercise. I felt that I should be voting because it is a responsibility of all youngsters as responsible citizen of the country. I also wanted to take a step towards bringing about a change.
I am hopeful that the candidate for whom I voted will help to bring change in the society. As a student I feel there is lack of opportunities for higher education. It is time to take initiative to help setting up new educational institutes. Law and order scenario of the city is also a serious issue that needs to be dealt with determination�
