Jamshedpur, May 11: All India Sikh Student Federation (AISSF) will be organising three-day Sikh Premier League (SPL) at Armoury Ground from 19 to 21 May. The members of the SPL organising committee held a meeting to successfully host the sporting league.
Satnam Singh Gambhir, President of AISSF Eastern India and organising committee chairperson, said, this is first of its kind cricket league where Sikh youths of Jamshedpur will display their talent.
Addressing a press conference, Gambhir further said, the main motive behind organizing the tournament in to make the youths specially the students who can keep themselves away from mobile and television and utilize the summer vacation by keeping themselves healthy.
Harpreet Singh Rekhraj, member, organisning committee said, the tournament is limited only to Sikhs and those Sikh guys who cut their hair will not be allowed to participate.
Present on the occasion, Baljeet Singh, said, religious programmes are always held for the Sikhs in Jamshedpur but sporting events are rarely organised.
Keeping this in mind, the federation decided to host cricket league for the Sikh youths of the city. Anyone interested can contact the local Gurudwara committee or Gambhir Tyre House in Sakchi, he added.
