Firing over liquor trade in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, October 9: . Sale of illegal liquor has started once again in Sitaramdera. Under the leadership of former SSP Prabhat Kumar, the police had launched a campaign to ban the sale of illegal liquor in Oraon Basti of Sitaramdera.

However, the firing incident that took place in Oraon Basti late on Saturday night exposed the campaign.

This has been disclosed by Moni Mahanty who was injured in this incident. Moni has been arrested by the police with a country-made pistol and two live bullets. A shell has also been recovered from the incident site.

Regarding the matter, Durga Sahu told that three youths came late at night and started demanding extortion. Meanwhile, a young man pointed a pistol. He got hurt while snatching. During this time one youth was caught while two youths managed to escape. After the incident, the youth was handed over to the police along with the weapon.

During interrogation, the youth revealed his name as Moni Mohanty and said that he lives in a refugee colony. The police have admitted him to MGM Hospital for treatment. Regarding the matter, Moni told that he had given liquor worth Rs. 30,000 to Durga for which he was not paying the money. He had gone late at night to ask for money. Meanwhile everyone started beating him due to which he got injured.
