Firing in Jamshedpur busiest area injures MLA’s aide, sparks panic

MLA’s representative shot at in Bistupur Khao Gali

Jamshedpur, July 11: Panic gripped Bistupur’s crowded Khao Gali on Thursday night after gunshots rang out around 8:39 PM, leaving one person seriously injured. The victim, Samresh Singh alias Guddu (37), a representative of Chakradharpur MLA Sukhram Oraon, sustained a bullet injury to the neck. He was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital for treatment.

The incident triggered chaos, forcing shopkeepers in the busy food street to shut down immediately. Khao Gali, located near DM Madan School (KMPM Vocational Training School) on the main road between Natraj Hotel and Women’s College, typically sees heavy evening footfall.

On receiving the alert, CCR DSP Manoj Kumar Thakur, Bistupur Police Station in-charge Umesh Thakur, and other police officials reached the scene and launched an investigation. Police recovered two bullet shells from the site and recorded preliminary statements from the injured.

The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined, and police have intensified efforts to trace the culprits involved in the shooting.
