Jamshedpur, April 25: Vegetable shops, a printing press and a TV repair shop were destroyed by three different incidences of fire on Friday night and Saturday morning at Mango Dimna Road, Kasidih and Mosabani in which goods and accessories worth lakhs of rupees were charred to ashes.
On Friday late night, vegetable shops made of bamboo, tarpaulins and plastic sheets on divider platforms along the Mango Dimna Road, caught fire. These shops are opposite Hariharnath Colony. On noticing thick clouds of smoke, local residents informed the police and fire brigade. The police and fire brigade teams arrived and with the help of local people were able to douse the flames after an hour. All vegetables and shacks were destroyed in the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

On Saturday morning a printing press in Kasidih under Sakchi police station caught fire. The fire in the press which is situated on the ground floor of a three storey residential building was noticed by the locals who finally managed to quell the flames. But by the time the fire was put down all material in the press had been destroyed. One local resident said that if the fire had spread residences in the vicinity would have been affected. The fire was reportedly caused due to a short circuit.
In another fire incident on Saturday morning a TV repairing shop near the Mosabani Masjid was completely gutted. The area falls under Ghatshila subdivision. As soon as the people noticed tongues of flame emanating out of the shop they rushed to put out the fire. The youth of the locality helped in the fire fight. The shop owner is Md Shamim.
