Tandwa, April 19 A massive fire broke out in the store yard of BHEL Company located at NTPC North Karnapura Power Project, due to which the loss is estimated to be crores of rupees.

However, the loss has not been assessed yet by NTPC. In the fire, ten containers and bundles of about one thousand cable wires along with the equipment kept for the third unit are reported to have been burnt.

This incident happened on Friday afternoon. After the incident the entire area was filled with smoke.

According to the information, after seeing smoke rising due to grass fire towards yard number seven of the power plant, the workers informed about it to their senior officers.

By the time the officials became active, the grass fire had taken a huge form. After the incident, an atmosphere of panic was also seen among the workers. All the workers were seen running to safe places.

On receiving information about the incident, the CISF fire brigade under NTPC reached the spot with fire engine and started controlling the fire. But the flame of fire had spread so much that NTPC’s fire brigade could not control it. After which fire brigade was also called from CCL’s Magadh and Amrapali project.

NTPC officials say that 95 percent of the fire has been controlled and the cause of the fire is being investigated, however, it is being discussed that the fire was caused by spark from the welding machine.
