Jamshedpur, Mar 2: State education department on Tuesday lodged a FIR over fraudulent admissions in quota of below poverty line (BPL) at private schools. This is the first such instance in the state.
The case was unearthed by a representative of anti-corruption bureau of India in a meeting with SSP East Singhbhum M Tamilvanan on February 6. The representative had also submitted a video to the SSP where middlemen were seen claiming that they ensure admission in BPL quota at private schools. This prompted the district administration to launch a probe into the entire incident.
After a month long probe, a FIR was lodged at Ulidih thana by block education officer, Subrato Mahato against Deepak Dev and Varsha Singh who were seen in the video claiming to secure admission in various schools in BPL quota. The duo had used forged documents of parents to get admission of students in various schools in BPL quota  and since the case was unearthed both are absconding.
During the probe it also came to light that Deepak Dev had secured admission of his daughter and the income certificate submitted in the school was forged. The probe is on in other schools too.
