Festivities grip Jamshedpur, theme-based Durga Puja pandals attract devotees

Jamshedpur: As the vibrant celebrations of Durga Puja unfold, the city of Jamshedpur has transformed into a spectacular showcase of culture and devotion.

Agrico

With over 300 puja pandals adorning the streets, the city is alive with joy, and the radiant faces of devotees highlight the significance of this cherished festival.

This year, pandal hoppers are greeted by a stunning array of thematic displays, including a giant replica of a temple from Gujarat, which has drawn the attention of thousands.

In defiance of the prevailing economic challenges, several puja committees have gone above and beyond, incurring additional expenses to create extravagant pandals that leave a lasting impression.

One such unique structure is the hanger built by the CH Area Durga Puja Committee. It has piqued the interest of visitors due to its innovative design.

Circuit House Jamshedpur

“Terracotta, cotton, and watercolors have been used alongside wooden structures to create this temple replica. The real beauty of the structure will come to life at night,” explained Srinivas Rao, a member of the puja committee.

Golmuri Circus Maidan puja Commitee

Despite the economic pressures of rising prices and a recessionary trend, nearly a dozen puja pandals in the city are worth visiting. Many of the 340 puja committees in Jamshedpur have opted for “budget pandals” this year.

Haat Bazar Chotta Govindpur

“Only a handful of committees capable of spending a few extra lakhs have dared to build expansive pandals. Otherwise, the city is celebrating a budget puja this year,” asserted Partho Chakraborty, highlighting the financial constraints faced by many.

Hill View Samiti Dimna Chowk

At the Kasidih Durga Puja Pandal, visitors can immerse themselves in a recreated rural atmosphere, experiencing the charm of an imaginary village in Jharkhand.

Hind Club, Ranikudar Kadma

In contrast, the Humepipe Sarbojanin Durga Puja Committee in Bhuyandih has erected a grand replica of the ancient and revered Baba Baidyanath temple in Deogarh.

Kadma Allied Area

Known for its breathtaking illumination, this pandal has been crafted by artisans from West Midnapore and Purulia districts of Bengal.

Kadma New Farm Area

Additionally, the Jairam Youth Sporting Club in Adityapur has created one of the most lavish pandals in the twin city.

Their impressive replica of an ancient temple stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to celebrating Durga Puja with grandeur and artistry.

Kasidih Durga Puja pandal

As the festivities continue, Jamshedpur is alive with the spirit of Durga Puja, drawing devotees and visitors alike to experience the magic and cultural richness of this beloved festival.

New Sidhgora Durga Puja pandal

The Durga Puja pandal of Sri Sarvjanik Durga Puja Committee, Tuiladungri, has been decorated with typical kitchen utensils including steel and plastic mesh and storage containers.

Railway Colony Tatanagar

The pandal was inaugurated on Sunday. The total cost for constructing this unique pandal has been estimated to have cost ₹22 lakhs.

Rajendra Nagar Durga Puja Samiti Dimna Road

The Durga idol will shine with a silver hue adding to the attraction. As part of their tradition of doing something innovative each year the committee has designed this year’s pandal as an imaginary temple, with a height of 90 feet and a width of 110 feet.

RD Bhatta and Contractors Area

A team of 40 skilled artisans from West Bengal has been working on the construction of the pandal, while the Durga idol, costing ₹1.75 lakh, has also been crafted by artisans from Contai, West Bengal.

Shiv Shankar Samiti Mango Dimna Road

Agrico Puja Committee’s Durga Puja pandal at the Agrico Club House is 75-ft-high, themed on “Mayur Vihar,” has become a major attraction for devotees, drawing large crowds from far and wide.

Sidhgora

The Agrico Puja Pandal, featuring intricate bamboo craftsmanship, stands as a 75-ft structure adorned with cloth, pastel colors, and lights.

Sonari Central Durga Puja Samiti

At its heart is a 14-ft statue of Maa Durga, captivating visitors.

Sonari Tarun Sangh

The pandal’s entrance showcases a stunning peacock structure, adding to its aesthetic charm.

Sri Sri Sarvajik Durga Puja Committee Tuiladungri

The overall construction cost of the pandal is estimated at Rs 12 lakh.

The Ram Das Bhatta and Contractors Area Durga Puja Committee inaugurated their Durga Puja pandal on the occasion of Sashti, Tuesday at Manimella Ground.
