Jamshedpur: Farmers� Welfare Day was organized at the district agriculture office in Karandih on Wednesday. A workshop for farmers was also held on the occasion.
A number of dignitaries were present during the programme. They included the MP of Jamshedpur Bidyut Baran Mahato, Ghatsila MLA Laxman Tudu, Zila Parishad president Bulu Rani Singh, Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar, Zila Parishad vice president Rajkumar Singh and district agriculture officer Kalipad Mahato. Also present on the occasion were the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan observer cum deputy secretary for East Singhbhum Ruchin Gupta and additional secretary Sidheshwar Chakravarty.
The participants were informed about various government schemes being run by the Central and state governments for the welfare of farmers. The DC spoke in detail about various agriculture schemes at the workshop. Farmers were given shawls and saplings for their good performance. Three farmers, Kanda Kaivart, Sanatan Kaivart and Chunka Kaivart, were given cheques worth Rs 1.20 lakh each under the Ved Vyas Awas Yojana.
