Chandil: Chandil sub-division area is grappling with a growing problem of wild elephant encounters, leaving farmers and residents in constant fear.
The daily presence of these elephants has created an atmosphere of uncertainty. When herds of wild elephants approach populated areas, the Forest Department takes measures to alert villagers by providing them with firecrackers, torches, and safety instructions.
Currently, an elephant removal squad has been summoned from West Bengal to guide these wild elephants back to their natural habitat. A ten-member team with 40 years of experience, hailing from Jhalda in Purulia district, has been working tirelessly for the past four days to steer the elephants away from populated areas, yet success has remained elusive.
