Ranchi, April 7: Basant Soren, the younger son of Shibu Soren and a minister in the Jharkhand government, has launched a pointed political critique aimed at his sister-in-law, Sita Soren. During his visit to Jamtara on Sunday to strategize for the Dumka Lok Sabha seat, Basant Soren emphasized the distinction between familial relations and electoral dynamics.
Addressing queries regarding the candidacy of Sita Soren from the Dumka Lok Sabha seat, Basant Soren clarified that while she may be his sister-in-law at home, their relationship does not extend to the electoral arena. Responding to allegations of Sita Soren not receiving due respect in both the party and the family, Basant Soren emphasized that Sita Soren has been accorded respect by the party, having served as an MLA for three terms spanning 15 years.
Furthermore, Basant Soren dismissed calls for a CBI inquiry into the death of Durga Soren, stating that Sita Soren, as a three-time MLA representing the party, never raised such demands during her tenure. He insinuated that her recent calls for an inquiry only emerged after she joined another political party, hinting at ulterior motives behind the demands.
On the topic of the statement made by Godda MP Nishikant Dubey regarding the potential division of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Basant Soren declined to comment, dismissing it as a personal opinion.
