Jamshedpur: A wave of anxiety and despair has engulfed the Dutta family of Adityapur Ichhapur Basti after their only son, trainee pilot Shubhrodeep Dutta, went missing along with his training aircraft from Sonari Airport. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, August 20, has left the family and the local community in a state of shock and uncertainty.
Shubhrodeep, a promising young trainee pilot, was on a routine training flight under the guidance of Captain Jeet Sataru, an experienced instructor from Patna. The aircraft, a Cessna 2 model, lost contact with the control tower at 11 am, and since then, there has been no trace of it.

Pradeep Dutta, Shubhrodeep’s father, works in the catering business and lives with his family in Vijay Kunj Flats, located in Ichhapur Basti of Adityapur. The Duttas had pinned their hopes and dreams on their only son, who was pursuing his ambition of becoming a pilot. The news of the aircraft’s disappearance has left the family in a state of deep shock.

For the past two days, the Dutta family has been anxiously waiting at Sonari Airport, hoping for any news about their missing son. On Wednesday the family went to Chandil dam with a hope but in vain. Shubhrodeep’s mother, devastated by the uncertainty, has been inconsolable, while Pradeep Dutta is barely holding up, clinging to the hope that his son will be found safe. The family’s home in Ichhapur Basti has become a gathering place for concerned neighbors and relatives, all praying for Shubhrodeep’s safe return.
The officials of Alchemist Aviation, the company responsible for the training aircraft, have so far been unable to provide any concrete information about the whereabouts of the missing plane. “The investigation is still ongoing, and we are doing everything we can to locate the aircraft,” stated an official from Alchemist Aviation, but this has done little to alleviate the family’s fears.
As hours turned into days, the lack of information has only deepened the family’s distress. The Dutta family is finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the situation as the search continues without any significant leads. The absence of any communication or indication of where the aircraft might have gone has left the family grappling with worst-case scenarios.
The local community in Ichhapur Basti has rallied around the Dutta family, offering support and solace in this difficult time. Neighbours and friends have been visiting the family, trying to provide comfort, but the uncertainty of the situation has cast a long shadow over everyone involved.
“We are all praying for Shubhrodeep’s safe return. He is a bright young man with a promising future ahead of him,” said one of the family’s close neighbours. The community has been organizing prayer meetings and vigils, hoping for a miracle.
