Jamshedpur, Mar 17: In response to the distress caused by the failure of numerous students in classes 9 and 11 at Rajendra Vidyalaya, a significant decision has been made to provisionally promote them to the next academic year. Sub-Divisional Officer Parul Singh convened a crucial meeting on Saturday, instructing the school management to facilitate the promotion of these students under specific conditions.
Following the issuance of promotion directives, relief swept over the failed students who had faced uncertainty regarding their academic progression. The recent examination results revealed that 62 students from class 9 and 83 students from class 11 had failed, prompting agitation among parents who voiced their concerns by staging protests at the school premises.
Responding to the outcry, distressed parents lodged complaints with the District Education Superintendent, leading to deliberations between the SDO, parents, and school authorities in the presence of Principal Jayanti Sinha. The consensus reached was to advance all students to the subsequent grade, with promotion criteria primarily based on their project work.
However, the SDO has imposed a crucial condition stipulating that if class 9 students fail to pass the first-term examination of class 10, or if class 11 students falter in the initial term of class 12, they will be reverted to their respective previous grades.
The meeting between parents and school management, conducted under the supervision of the SDO, witnessed heated exchanges and tumultuous moments. Parents alleged preferential treatment for students who received private tuition from school teachers, while accusing the principal of inappropriate conduct. Conversely, the principal refuted these claims, attributing failure to students’ lack of diligence and parental involvement.
