Jamshedpur, July 9: A team of excise department officials unearthed a factory of duplicate Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) at Ghatsila close to Bengal border, on wee hours of Sunday.
The liquor company was running since the past four years would produce popular brand of whisky and supply them at the liquor outlets in Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and even Bengal.
Assistant commissioner of excise department Manoj Kumar said that a team of departmental officials raided a premises at Hulung village and unearthed the factory which would produce duplicate IMFL.
“It is a major achievement for us. The factory is set up on the land of a local resident, Adweet Das at Hulung village under Ghatshila thana. A Jugsalai-based resident Charanjit Singh alias Banti Sardar who has also residential house at Ghatshila would run the racket of producing duplicate liquor,” said Kumar.
The assitant commissioner pointed out that the production of IMFL was being made in a huge quantity.
“As per our probe the racketeers would produce popular brands like Royal Stag, Imperial Blue and OC Blue. Every day one truck-load of the liquor is manufactured and supplied to over 100 liquor outlets in Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and Bengal,” said the senior excise official.
The excise officials have collected over 3,000 bottles of duplicate liquor, caps, sealing machines, labels, liquor manufacturing spirit etc from the spot.
