Extension Work to Ease Parcel Operations and Improve Convenience

Jamshedpur, Feb 5: The process of extending platform number two and three at Tatanagar station has commenced, with a team of engineering and other departmental supervisors inspecting the site on Saturday. Following another round of inspection, a detailed map and cost estimate will be prepared for the expansion.

The issue of short platform length was raised by parcel employees during the inspection of Chakradharpur DRM Tarun Huria, highlighting difficulties in loading and unloading parcels. Additionally, disabled bogies occupying the lines have caused further disruption. Frequent complaints from consumers regarding delayed parcel unloading have added to the urgency of addressing the problem. Previously, the Tatanagar Station Improvement Group also pointed out the need for platform extension.

The Engineering Department has been actively involved in surveying the station and a report has been requested regarding the expansion of platform number two and three. A similar survey was conducted earlier for the extension of platform four and five, aiming to accommodate 24-coach trains without any hindrance. The estimated length of the expanded platforms at Tatanagar is expected to be around half a kilometer, ensuring seamless railway operations and improved passenger convenience.
