Jamshedpur: The MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato has written to AK Mittal, Member (Engineering) of the Railway Board, demanding that the construction of the proposed Jugsalai railway over-bridge (ROB) be expedited in the larger interest of the people of his constituency. He said the ROB project had got the approval of the Central government some five years back.
Mahato, in the letter, informed Mittal that the state government of Jharkhand had already agreed to pay Railway the market value of the project land. He said the state government had cleared encroachment from the railway land on which the project is to be completed so that a U-turn ROB may be built.
He further said that making the ROB straight would cost another Rs 400 crore in giving compensation to the displacement victims.
“The Chief Secretary of Jharkhand government Raj Bala Verma had written a letter to the Chairman of the Railway Board while the Road Construction Department Secretary Mast Ram Meena had written to the General Manager of South Eastern Railway informing the Railways that the state government is willing to pay the land value for the project.
Now the Railway should not delay the project implementation any further,” said the MP.
