Excise team busts six illegal distilleries

Jamshedpur: A team of district excise department busted several illegal distilleries in Demkadih, Chhota Banki and Suklera villages under MGM police station area and seized 900 litres of illicit liquor.

It however failed to arrest anyone. Six illegally-run distilleries were destroyed in the campaign.

Excise officials said they had destroyed 12,000 kilogram mahua and seized drums and other equipments used in the distillation of alcohol.

Assistant excise officer Arvind Kujur said the raid was conducted on the basis of a tip-off. The campaign against hooch traders will continue, he said.
