Ex-chief labour commissioner discusses new labour code with Tata Steel officials

Dr. Onkar Sharma visits Tata Workers’ Union

Jamshedpur, June 4: Tata Workers’ Union (TWU) on Wednesday hosted Dr. Onkar Sharma, former Chief Labour Commissioner of India, at its office on Wednesday. Dr. Sharma was warmly welcomed by TWU President Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, who presented him with a bouquet.


During his visit, Dr. Sharma held an interactive session with senior HR officials of Tata Steel and TWU leaders. He shared valuable insights on “The New Labour Code of India,” highlighting key reforms and their implications for industrial relations. He praised the century-old legacy of the Tata Workers’ Union and commended its consistent efforts in championing workers’ rights and welfare.

The session saw enthusiastic participation from Tata Steel HR officers including Rahul Dubey (Chief IR & Rewards), Mukesh Agarwal (Chief HRBP Steel-TSJ), Deeba Ahmad (Chief HRBP Corporate Functions), Sonam Ranjan (Chief HRBP Supply Chain), Shilpi Shiwangi (Head HRM IR & Rewards), Prashant Kishore (Sr. Area Manager HRM IR & Rewards), and Rajesh Kumar Jha (Head HRM Legal).

Representing TWU were President Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, Deputy President Shailesh Kumar Singh, General Secretary Satish Kumar Singh, Vice President Shahnawaz Alam, Assistant Secretaries Ajay Kumar Choudhary and Shyam Babu, and Treasurer Amod Kumar Dubey.
