Eradicate witchcraft superstitions from society: CM

Ranchi, August 26: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the superstition of witchcraft practices is a shame for any civilized society.

He said that many women are being killed in the name of witchcraft for the last several years which is a deeply condemnable. He said that the superstition regarding witchcraft practices should be eradicated completely from our society.

He said it while flagging off the awareness van against superstition regarding witchcraft practices from his residence. On this occasion, he released a CD for public awareness.

The Chief Minister said that superstitions related to witchcraft practices must be eradicated from the minds of people. He said that it is not only the responsibility of the administration rather everyone should come forward to uproot this bleak social evil.

He said that flagging off this awareness van endeavors to stop any obnoxious incident against women folk in the name of witchcraft practices.

He said that atrocity in name of witchcraft practice is a big blot in the age of science & space research. Referring to various herbs found in the forests of Jharkhand, the CM said that different types of medicines were prepared by our ancestors from these herbs.

Hence the govt. plans to train people from 15 November 2015 to prepare herbal medicines from the forest herbs which will be used to cure the villagers from normal diseases.

Welfare Minister Dr. Louis Marandi summoned the panchayat sevaks, aanganbadi sevikas & sahayikas to spread awareness to uproot this superstition.

She said that it has flourished because of illiteracy pervaded in society.

Secretary to CM Mr. Sunil Kr. Burnwal, Secretary, Food & Supply Department Mr. Binay Kr. Choubey, DC Ranchi Mr. Manoj Kumar, officers of social welfare department, NGO representatives & members of dramatic troupes were present on this occasion.
