Jamshedpur: Threat of epidemic breakout of various diseases looms large on many localities of Seraikela Nagar Panchayat area due to lack of hygiene and breeding of mosquitoes in poorly-drained areas.
Sources said the threat of various diseases like malaria, typhoid and bad health conditions like jaundice was high in the localities. The major reason for the situation is the want of cleanliness drive in the area by the Seraikela Nagar Panchayat Area.
Local residents alleged that regular tasks like sprinkling of DDT and bleaching powder in drains and water-logged areas were not carried out by the authorities concerned in the last several months. The local authorities said they were working despite many obstacles caused by scarcity of resources.
The residents of Seraikela Nagar Panchayat area have demanded that an intensive cleanliness drive be launched in the localities to prevent the threat of epidemic breakout.
