Enhanced police deployment in Jamshedpur public spaces

Jamshedpur: Cops in uniforms are being deployed in buses, bus stops, and bus stands as part of an initiative of the city police for enhancing the safety of women and children. This is expected to help take immediate action in crimes committed against women and children besides finding prompt solutions to problems they face in public spaces. Pink Police will be specially deployed at parks, beaches, bus stops, and bus stations. Besides, popular tourist spots will also have frequent Pink Police patrolling.

Police presence will be ensured near schools and colleges in the mornings and evenings to ensure the safety of students. Special drives will be held in the neighbourhood of educational institutions against the sale of drugs and other addictive substances.

In a proactive move to combat various social issues plaguing the city, the Jamshedpur Police has also launched a comprehensive initiative Foot Patrolling under the directives of the Superintendent of Police, City Mukesh Kumar Lunayat. The primary focus of this initiative is to address concerns related to drug abuse, hooliganism, eve-teasing, illegal parking, and other criminal activities that have been a cause for concern in the urban police station area.

With the overarching goal of fostering a safer and more secure environment for the residents of Jamshedpur, the police department has implemented a strategic plan that includes regular foot patrolling. This initiative, scheduled for three days a week, aims to cover sensitive areas that have been identified as hotspots for criminal activities.

The foot patrolling initiative is a testament to the commitment of the Jamshedpur Police in establishing better coordination between law enforcement and the general public. By increasing police visibility in key locations, the department aims to deter criminal elements and provide a sense of security to the community.

The selected days for foot patrolling have been carefully chosen to maximize effectiveness and address potential spikes in criminal activities during specific times. Officers on foot patrol are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to respond promptly to any incidents that may arise during their rounds.

This initiative not only serves as a deterrent to criminal activities but also emphasizes the importance of community involvement in maintaining law and order. The Jamshedpur Police encourages residents to actively participate by sharing information and reporting any suspicious activities, contributing to a collective effort to create a safer living environment.

The Superintendent of Police, City, East Singhbhum, expressed confidence in the success of this initiative and highlighted the significance of community-police collaboration. The foot patrolling strategy is expected to yield positive results in curbing the identified issues and fostering a sense of security and well-being among the residents of Jamshedpur.

Jamshedpur Police’s introduction of foot patrolling three days a week stands as a proactive and strategic measure to address pressing social concerns. This initiative reflects a commitment to community safety and underscores the importance of a collaborative approach between law enforcement and the public in creating a secure and harmonious urban environment.

The police will ask for cooperation of the Notified Area Committee (NAC) of Jamshedpur and Mango, besides, Jugsalai Municipal Council (JMC) in dealing with encroachment, unauthorised vehicle parking and illegal shops.
