Engineers’ Day celebration at NTTF Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Engineers’ Day was celebrated at NTTF RD Tata Technical Institute in Golmuri on Friday with floral tributes being paid to Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who was born on September 15, 1861 and in whose honour, the Government of India declared the day as National Engineers’ Day in 1968. The programme was inaugurated jointly by Principal Preeta John and Vice Principal Ramesh Rai.

Addressing the students, Principal Preeta John mentioned that Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, India’s first Engineer, was born on September 15, 1861, in the village of Muddenahalli in the state of Karnataka. Having achieved the highest marks in the Bachelor’s examination, he was sent by the Maharaja of Mysore to study at the College of Engineering in Pune. In the course of his speech, Preeta John highlighted Sir M Visvesvaraya’s contributions to Tata Steel.

Students from all departments attended the program, where Shruti Choudhary and Yash Prasad spoke on the legendary engineer, Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya’s life and work. The speech contest was won by Aditi Chauhan who was awarded the first prize followed by Himanshu Shekhar Gopi and Pooja Bhalotia received the second and third places respectively.

Among others present at the Engineers’ day celebration programme were Coordinator N. Shivprasad, along with Anil K Javali, Pankaj K Gupta, Harish Kumar, Deepak Sarkar, Ajit Kumar, Manish Kumar, Nakul, Preeti, Manisha, Jyoti, and Birendra Acharya.
