Encroachment eviction drive removes illegal shops in Bistupur

Jamshedpur, Dec. 28: With the increasing encroachment on the Bistupur market roads particularly in the fruit market area, the district administration on Monday launched anti-encroachment drive in Bistupur market.

The drive started by Dhalbhum SDO Alok Kumar along with police removed several kiosks and temporary shops in the fruit market area. Shop owners protested and some even sat down on the road before the JCB but police resorted to lathi charge and continued the drive.

�We want to streamline the traffic movement in the city. We are taking initiatives to vacate the illegal constructions so that the vehicles can move easily,� said an officer.

Over fifty shops had encroached the road and there are always a traffic jam as the vendors have occupied one forth portion of the road, making difficult to move the heavy vehicles.
