Jamshedpur, Dec. 2: In its continuous drive against the banned ultra outfits, security forces arrested a member of banned rebel outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) Sinduribera village under Bandgaon police station area of West Singhbhum district on Tuesday.
The arrested ultra Maslkalan Sirum, 21 used to collect levy on behalf of PLFI and used to supply rations to the ultras. He belongs to the squad of PLFI leaders Kishan Gope and Jidan Gudiya.
The security forces comprising Chaibasa police and CRPF-60 opened fire in the forest area under the jurisdiction of Bandgaon police station in West Singhbhum. After the encounter, the forces launched a search operation after which huge arms and ammunitions was recovered. The forces recovered one rifle, one magazine and live cartridges were recovered.
A police official said that the police received a secret information that some ultras were active in the forest area. Acting on a tip-off we succeeded in nailing them. The ultras started firing after which the security forces retaliated. After intelligence reports alerted us we formed a team of district police and other security forces for this operation and successfully executed it”.
He informed that during interrogation the arrested youth has confessed his crime.
The police and paramilitary forces have also beefed up the naxal infested areas of West Singhbhum district. Forces have been deployed in strategic locations.
The district police have maintained that combing operation in the Maoist infested areas of the district will continue as usual and there is no letup whatsoever. “Security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxalites. The plan is to keep a tab on the camps being operated by ultras,” said another official.
