Ranchi, July 29: Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma today said that Khadi was a symbol of sacrifice, bravery, prestige and nationalism therefore it was the responsibility of all people to join themselves with Khadi.
Addressing the people after inaugurating the Shravani Khadi Mela 2017, the CS said that Jharkhand was a young state where the population of the youth was one crore. She said that the state government was trying to enhance the skill of the youth of the state and link them with jobs.
Verma said that this year the state has set a sum of Rs 700 crore for skill development and added that under the leadership of the Chief Minister cottage and rural industries are also being encouraged in which women and youth are being asked to join hands. The Chief Secretary said that it is the dream of the CM to remove poverty from the state and improve the economic condition of the poor. She advised the Khadi Board to strengthen the markets for the artisans and assured full cooperation from the state government. She asked the board to form programmes for training of the artisans.
On the occasion she also extended her greetings to the people for the auspicious month of Shravan.
Addressing the gathering, Jharkhand Khadi Board chairman Sanjay Seth said that the purpouse of the event was to create a market for the artisans to strengthen their economic conditions. He said that soon the country’s largest Khadi park would be ready in the state which would create employment opportunities for thousands of people and also improve tussar production in the state.
Seth that soon 23 ‘charkha’ centers would be opened in the state in which khadi clothes would be prepared. A total of 50 stalls from different districts of the state have been put up at the event in which items related to silk, dokra art, khadi clothes, jute items and other goods are being sold. The event would continue till August 6.
