Simdega: In a recent incident, a herd of wild elephants wreaked havoc in Thathaitangar, Simdega, specifically targeting Chhuriya Dham. Parshuram Manjhi, the priest of Chhuriya Dham, recounted the night of terror when the elephants, numbering around 15-20, broke into the premises.
The elephants climbed the mountain and targeted the storehouse, demolishing it in the process. They proceeded to consume the stored rice, pulses, and other grains, resulting in the wastage of essential materials. The forceful intrusion led to the destruction of loudspeaker sets, boxes, utensils, and even the solar panels installed in the Dham premises.
Residents in the area were frightened by the sound of elephants during the night, prompting them to take shelter in their homes.
