Electricity Department to speed up rural and urban electrification in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC)  Aniket Sachan conducted a comprehensive review meeting on the Restructured Distribution Area Scheme (RDSS) and the Chief Minister Ujjwal Jharkhand Scheme (MUJY) at the Collectorate office. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of electrification projects and expediting pending tasks to ensure seamless power supply across urban and rural regions.

During the session, Executive Engineers from the Electricity Department were instructed to align their progress with the Project Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) to ensure timely completion of electrification projects. Special emphasis was placed on identifying and addressing areas that remain without electricity.

The Executive Engineer of Electricity, Jamshedpur,  Anand Kaushik, was specifically directed to compile a list of villages, hamlets, and localities (mohallas/tolas) that have not yet been electrified under the Chief Minister Ujjwal Jharkhand Scheme (MUJY). This list will be submitted for verification and confirmation by the Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to ensure that no region is left behind in the electrification drive.

The DDC also issued clear instructions to accelerate the electrification process in these remaining areas within the stipulated time frame, ensuring that both rural and urban regions benefit from the scheme.

Under the RDSS scheme, the review also covered ongoing modernization efforts aimed at strengthening the electricity distribution system. Instructions were issued to expedite:

Replacement of open electric wires with AB (Aerial Bunched) cables to enhance safety and reliability. Installation of smart meters to improve energy efficiency and streamline billing. Upgradation of infrastructure to minimize power losses and improve service delivery.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Executive Engineer  Anand Kaushik, Executive Engineer  Kapil Tigga, and Executive Engineer  Chandra Bhushan, who provided updates on the progress of ongoing projects and discussed strategies for overcoming implementation challenges.

With a firm commitment to 100% electrification, the administration aims to ensure that every village, hamlet, and locality receives electricity under the MUJY and RDSS schemes. The proactive approach taken by the district authorities reflects their determination to accelerate development and improve the quality of life for residents.

The Electricity Department has been directed to maintain strict timelines and ensure the successful execution of these projects, bringing reliable power supply to every corner of the region.
