Election committee meeting for Press Club of Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct 15: The election committee for the upcoming Press Club of Jamshedpur elections, scheduled for October 20th, convened today in Sakchi, with six of the seven members in attendance, excluding Shashi Bhushan. During the meeting, the committee decided to verify and publish the voter list of members by the end of the day. This list will be shared in the designated WhatsApp group and a physical copy will be displayed at the Press Club office.

Members whose names are absent from the list can submit their membership certificates at the Press Club office until 5 PM on October 17th. Md Akbar has been appointed to forward these claims to the election committee, and claims can also be sent directly to the committee chairman, Brij Bhushan Singh, via WhatsApp. Following the release of the voter list, Brij Bhushan Singh will serve as the sole administrator of the WhatsApp group until the election results are declared.

Key dates have been established for the election process: nominations will be accepted on October 17th from 10 AM to 5 PM, with withdrawal of nominations allowed on October 18th during the same hours. Voting will take place on October 20th from 12 noon to 4 PM at the Nirmal Mahato Guest House, conducted via secret ballot. The results will be announced immediately after the voting concludes, and newly elected office bearers will be welcomed by the members present, along with a vote of thanks for the outgoing committee.

Elections will be held for three key positions: President, General Secretary, and Treasurer. Candidates are encouraged to engage with members before the voting date through personal outreach and social media; however, outdoor campaigning through banners, posters, or loudspeakers is prohibited. Decorum and respectful behaviour are mandatory throughout the campaign and voting process to ensure a safe and orderly election.

Each candidate must pay a security deposit of Rs 1100 for their respective positions, which can be refunded if they receive at least one-third of the total votes cast. The meeting concluded with the presence of Brij Bhushan Singh, Anand Kumar, Devanand, Arindam, Jenamani, Ajay Shankar, and Arun Singh, all committed to facilitating a smooth election process.
