Jamshedpur, Nov 6: A 70-year-old woman, Soma Sarkar, died early Thursday morning after being attacked by a rampaging bull in Subhash Colony, Mango under the Ulidih police station area.
According to her husband, Kushal Sarkar, the couple had stepped out for their usual morning walk when the uncontrollable bull charged at Soma with great force.
The impact was so severe that she died on the spot. “I have never seen such a violent attack by a bull in my life,” the grieving husband said, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.
Former BJP leader Vikas Singh visited the bereaved family after the incident. He alleged that Soma Sarkar’s death was a consequence of misleading and false reports claiming that the dangerous bull had already been captured by authorities.
Singh said that such “fake and cheap publicity-driven claims” by certain leaders and municipal officials created a false sense of safety among residents.
Believing the bull had been caught, people resumed their daily routines without fear — including Soma Sarkar, who went for her morning walk as usual. Tragically, the same bull remained at large and fatally attacked her.
Singh criticised those responsible for circulating the inaccurate information, stating that their carelessness had cost an innocent life.
The incident has sparked anger and grief in the locality, with residents demanding accountability and immediate action from civic authorities to prevent such tragedies.
