Bokaro : With an objective to motivate the women employees and to build teamwork among them, Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division hosted ‘Ekta Sports Festival’ yesterday at the Sports Complex, West Bokaro.
The one-day fun-filled sports event was inaugurated by Sanjay Kumar Singh, General Manager, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel in the presence of Mr Mohan Mahato, President, Rastriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RSMS); Sanak Ghosh, Chief, Quarry AB, West Bokaro, Tata Steel; B V Sudhir, Chief, CB, West Bokaro; Sahabji Khuchroo, Chief, KBP & Projects, West Bokaro and Kajal Hota, Chief, Plant & Equipment, West Bokaro.
More than 200 lady employees from different raw material locations including West Bokaro, FAMD, Joda and Noamundi participated in a total of 16 different competitions including dart game, skipping, ludo, tug-of-war, etc apart from some on the spot competitions.
The sporting event was organised by ‘Ekta Group’ of West Bokaro Division is association with the Sports Department of West Bokaro.
Addressing the participants during the inauguration session, Singh said, “Women today are leading in all spheres of life and their contribution is important towards the development of the country.
At Tata Steel, especially in the mines, diversity is a much discussed topic, and the Company aims to create a significant difference among its employee base in the days to come”. Mr Singh urged the women employees not to wait for opportunities but to create them.
The concluding session was equally colourful with several on-the-spot competitions for employees and a round-up cultural show by the students of Holy Cross School, West Bokaro.
It is worth mentioning here that the diversity and inclusion plan for Tata Steel started in June 2015 and a diversity group named ‘Mosaic’ was formed.
