Saraikela, Oct 24: in three separate road accidents on Friday evening, eight people were injured. All were in drunken state. One of them was sent to jail while seven others after receiving primary medical attention at the Sadar Hospital were sent to Jamshedpur for better treatment.
The Saraikela police led by OC Navin Prakash Pandey were busy rushing out to the accident spots and getting the injured to the hospital. He said that the three accidents that occurred on Friday evening were caused due to drunken driving.
In the first incident, a Scorpio SUV was reportedly coming at high speed from the Jamshedpur end of the Saraikela-Kandra main road at 7:30 pm on Friday. The driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned near Baiganbari in Guria. The car driver Vicky Kumar, 63 year old Bachcha Singh and Roshan Budha who were in the SUV were injured. They were taken to the Sadar Hospital where after primary treatment were referred to Jamshedpur. According to information Bachcha Singh�s arm had to to be amputated at TMH. The Saraikela PS OC Navin Prakash Pandey stated that the three were drunk. The driver of the Scorpio, Vicky Kumar�s alcohol level was measured at 144 against the normal level of 30. He was booked under drunken driving and sent to jail after treatment.
The second accident occurred at 8:30 pm on the Saraikela-Kharsawan main road near Kodasai where three bike borne riders Salwan Mahto of Jamdih, Raju Mahto of Asanbani and Bhagwat Mahto of Siyadih hit the rear of an auto rickshaw traveling ahead of them. According to reports Bhagwat Mahto along with his two friends had gone on the same bike to his sister�s house in Manoharpur. The accident occurred while they were returning. The three injured were taken to Sadar Hospital from where they were referred to MGMC Hospital in Jamshedpur for better treatment. The police said that all the three injured were drunk.
In the third incident that occurred on Friday at 9 pm on the Saraikela-Kandra main road near the Dugni CRPF camp, Adityapur Bhatia Basti resident Saurav Naik and Dugni resident Akash Naik were seriously injured. Informed sources said that Saurav Naik had gone to visit his aunt at Dugni. Later, he took along his cousin Akash Naik on the bike and was moving towards Saraikela in the course of which they crashed into the rear of an unidentified vehicle. The two bike riders fell down and received serious injuries. They were referred to MGMC Hospital in Jamshedpur.
Saraikela police station Officer In-charge Navin Prakash Pandey informed that all the accident victims were drunk when the road mishaps occurred on Friday late evening.
