On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. R. N. Jha, Director DRDA Saurav Kumar Sinha, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sahir Pal, District Transport Officer Mr. Dinesh Ranjan, Executive Officer of Mango Municipal Corporation, Deepak Sahai and other officials were present.

The deputy commissioner took a serious note of ambulances lying defunct. He ordered hospital superintendent Dr Sanjay Kumar to return those ambulances that are not working to the district headquarters.

He instructed the hospital authorities to ensure that all doctors attending duties at OPD and in emergency should attend patients on the scheduled time.

“During the inspection deputy commissioner several instructions were given and we have already started working on the directive,” said Dr Kumar.

The deputy commissioner during the hour-long inspection also visited medicine and orthopaedic wards and interacted with patients and took feedback about the treatment and foods served at the wards.

The deputy commissioner also held a meeting with the hospital administration about shortcomings in the hospital and steps taken to overcome it.

“We presented our action plan for improving the functioning of the hospital and the deputy commissioner was satisfied with it. We will be acting on his directives and those doctors found absent have been asked to explain their position,” said an official.

The MGMCH is a government hospital with a facility of 540 beds. Everyday around 1000 patients come here for treatment. Several times parts of the ceiling and windows have collapsed four times in the government hospital. Due to lack of repair work and attention of the authorities concerned, the condition of the hospital has deteriorated to a great extent.
