Jamshedpur: Followers of Islam across the Steel City celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with traditional gaiety and religious devotion on Saturday. Mosques throughout the region hosted special Namaz (prayers) as the community marked the conclusion of the holy month of Ramzan.

Major Congregations and Festive Spirit
As is the annual tradition, the Jama Masjid in Sakchi recorded the city’s highest turnout for Eid prayers. Vibrant celebrations took place in various parts of the city, including Azadnagar (Mango), Dhatkidih, and Jugsalai.

The festivities showcased a blend of tradition and modern trends, with the younger generation sporting new fashion statements even in more conservative pockets. Families exchanged gifts and greeted one another with “Eid Mubarak,” while households served traditional sweet dishes, most notably sewayian (vermicelli).

Administrative Vigilance
The district administration deployed several magistrates at strategic locations to ensure a peaceful celebration. To maintain law and order, the police maintained a particularly tight vigil on the streets of Azadnagar, Jugsalai, and Sakchi, ensuring smooth traffic and public safety throughout the day.

The Spirit of Charity and Inclusion
Community leader Mohammad Rizwan highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of the festival, noting that the month of Ramzan commemorates key milestones in Islamic history.

“Charity and giving alms to the poor remain a central way of life for Muslims during Ramzan,” Rizwan stated. He further noted that the festival serves as a bridge between communities, as non-Muslims often participate wholeheartedly in the joyous festivities.
