Jamshedpur, Oct 19: Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad was celebrated with great fervour and special prayers were offered in mosques and shrines on the occasion across the city. In view of Covid-19 protocols, the annual procession was not held.
The Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession used to be organised by Tanzib Ahle Sunnat O Jammat, a religious outfit but this year it was cancelled in view of the pandemic. Religious discourses were organised at different locations. The leaders called upon the participants to follow the path of peace and humanity, which was the main thrust of Prophet Mohammed.
Areas like Jugsalai, Parsudih, Makdhampur, Telco, Barinagar, Golmuri, Shastrinagar, Kadma, Bhalubasa, Agrico, Mango, Azadnagar, Kapali and Jawaharnagar were decorated for the occasion.
Food and sweets were distributed among the poor and the needy. Moreover, contributions were made to support orphanages, asylums for the physically and mentally challenged, and widows. Special prayers are offered at mosques. Religious leaders and scholars preach the Prophet Muhammed’s teachings.
The streets wore a lively look on Monday night ahead of the Eid Milad un Nabi, which was celebrated today. People illuminated several streets, buildings, and mosques across the city with beautiful lights and buntings in celebration. Every year, religious organisations, Milad committees, and individuals plan a large number of activities, comprising seminars, conferences, and discussion programmes to mark the annual event.
