Education Ministry official visits NIT Jamshedpur, emphasizes research and academic initiatives

Jamshedpur, March 9: Additional Secretary (Education) at the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Sunil Kumar Barnwal paid a visit to NIT Jamshedpur today, accompanied by DC (Saraikela) Ravi Shankar Shukla. During his tour, he assessed the infrastructure facilities of the institute and engaged in discussions with Director Dr. Gautam Sutradhar, Registrar Retd. Col. Nisheeth Kr. Rai, as well as various Deans, Heads of Departments, and students.

Addressing the faculty and staff, Shri Barnwal applauded the existing infrastructure while stressing the importance of leveraging the provisions of the National Research Foundation Bill to enhance research facilities and laboratories. He also recommended implementing the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) system to track students’ academic progress and assign grades for co-curricular and social activities.

Highlighting the importance of integrated, multi-disciplinary courses with multiple exit options, Barnwal underscored the necessity of grooming students for the future. His visit aimed to foster collaboration and innovation in academic and research endeavors at NIT Jamshedpur.
