Jamshedpur: A scam worth Rs 1 crore has come to light in East Singhbhum in connection with the development of basic infrastructure in government schools in the financial year 2015-16. In a probe, it has been found that funds allocated to 14 schools for construction work were misappropriated. The construction was not completed despite fund allocation. Measures are being initiated against the president of the village education committees and secretary cum headmasters. The role of assistant engineers and junior engineers who monitored the construction work has also come under scanner. District superintendent of education Banke Bihari Singh has ordered lodging of FIR against eight persons in this regard. Many more people are likely to face legal action in this scam, sources said.
