ED to review CM Hemant’s letter

Ranchi: The Ranchi land scam case is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and many people have gone to jail in this case so far. Several others have been summoned and interrogated. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is also being called to the ED office for questioning by sending summons but he is not going. Despite being summoned four times, he did not reach the ED office.

Rather, he challenged the ED summons first in the Supreme Court and then in the High Court. Now the question is what will be the next step of the agency in such a situation. So let us tell you that the ED will now review the situation after Hemant Soren filed a petition in the Jharkhand High Court and sent a letter to the ED. ED officials will decide what the agency’s next step will be.

ED officials have learned that CM Hemant Soren has challenged the validity of Sections 50 and 63 of PMLA. A petition has been filed terming these sections as being contrary to the Indian Constitution. In such a situation, this case will be heard in the divisional bench of the High Court.
The Supreme Court had already accepted the validity of these sections while clarifying its stand on the hearing. In such a situation, ED can take further action against the Chief Minister. ED can also take action under PMLA 2002 (Section 15 of 2003). Till now the CM has not appeared on the summons of August 14, August 24, September 9 and September 23.
