ED arrests Baban Singh and Surendra Jindal in Rs 250 crore Sand Scam case

Dhanbad: In connection with the Rs 250 crore sand scam case in Bihar, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team from Dhanbad arrested Baban Singh and Surendra Jindal, subsequently transferring them to Patna. Additionally, Mithilesh Singh was apprehended by the ED in Patna the previous day.

Baban Singh, a resident of Jai Prakash Nagar, and Surendra Jindal, hailing from Chanchani Colony Dhaiya, are the latest individuals to be taken into custody. Sources indicate that the ED has previously arrested sand trader Jagnarayan Singh and his son in connection with the sand scam case.

The ED is actively pursuing individuals associated with Broad Sun Commodities Private Limited and Aditya Multicom Private Limited, whose owners are accused of causing a revenue loss of Rs 250 crore through illegal sand mining. In earlier operations, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids in Dhanbad, Bihar-Jharkhand, Hazaribagh, and West Bengal on June 5.

As a result of these operations, 60 bank accounts were frozen, and documents pertaining to properties worth Rs 11 crore were seized, along with a cash sum of Rs 1.5 crore. Sources suggest that the arrested individuals had been involved in the coal business before venturing into the sand industry, eventually falling under the scrutiny of the ED.
