Seraikela, Feb 2: State government has decided to make the scenic Chandil Dam in Seraikela-Kharsawan into a world class tourism site and as part of this effort a month long Eco Retreat 2021 would be hosted at the site from March 1 -31.
Tourism director, A Dodde on Tuesday visited the Chandil Dam and saw the infrastructure and discussed with authorities on exploring other opportunities in tourism sector at the scenic area.
The director also selected suitable plot of land near the Chandil Dam for the Eco-Retreat program. There are proposal to install 50 luxury AC tent cottage, restaurant and bar, water sports activity. There is proposal to develop tourism facilities in the area at an investment of Rs 6 crore in seven acre of land. The director also saw the land related documents and also saw the approach roads to the Dam for the convenience of the visitors.
The government is also planning to improve facilities for picnickers along with facilities for amusements of children and water sports for youths at Chandil Dam.
The representatives of Chandil Dam Visthapith Matsayajivi Swavlambhi Sahakari Samity urged the tourism director to resume boating facilities at the Dam.
