Jamshedpur, Oct 10: Durga Puja, the biggest festival among of Bengali Hindus, is gearing up to go eco-friendly this year as Jusco has instructed to serve the bhog ritual without the use of plastic.
As part of the Zimmedaar Nagrik, Zimmedaar Shaher Campaign, which started in July, JUSCO has cooperated with many Durga Puja Committees to be part of this Citizens Campaign.
As a result of this 5 Durga Puja Committees have agreed to use Eco-Friendly bags for distribution of Bhogs during the puja. This initiative first started with Ganesh Puja and has been adopted by 5 Durga Puja Committes this year namely Northern Town & Circuit House, Utkal Association, Bandhav Samity, Singhbhum Circket Association and Green Enclave.
Together they have decided to use Eco-Friendly bag to distribute Bhogs. Around 7000 bags would be used by them for the Bhogs.
It is indeed a great initiative and would go a long way in eliminating plastic bags from town. JUSCO thanked all the Durga Puja Committees who have adopted this initiative and in times to come request all the good citizens of Jamshedpur to come forward and cooperate in this endeavor so that Jamshedpur becomes a plastic free city. Many shop keepers have also come forward to adopt this initiative.
Apart from the above JUSCO will also stage Nukkad-Natak at the Northern Town & Circuit House Durga Puja Pandal on 11 October to create awareness on the campaign.
Together with the Road Melters group JUSCO will organize a Road Awareness programme on 13 October 2013. Road Melters are a group of Royal Enfiled Bike enthusiasts who have voluntarily taken up the initiative to create awareness on road safety amongst school children.
During this Durga Puja, JUSCO and Road Melters will organize a rally which will culminate at the Northern Town & Circuit House Durga Puja pandal on 13 October.
