East Zone Badminton Championship to begin in Jamshedpur today

Jamshedpur, September 3: The Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA) is set to host the East Zone Badminton Championship 2025 from 4th to 7th September at the Tata Badminton Training Centre, Jamshedpur.

The championship is expected to see the participation of nearly 200 players from six states – Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha.

JBA Secretary K. Prabhakar Rao informed that the tournament will be held in two formats – Team Championship and Individual Championship. The Team Championship will be played on September 4 and 5, followed by the Individual Events on September 6 and 7. The prize distribution for the Team Championship is scheduled for September 5 at 5:30 PM.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by JBA President Deepak Varma (Retd. IPS) as the Chief Guest and Tata Steel Chief of Sports Mukul Vinayak Choudhari as the Guest of Honour.

Rao added that several top-level players from across states are participating and expressed confidence that the Jharkhand State Team will put up a strong performance before the home crowd.
