Jamshedpur, Sept. 2: Safi Akram of Ranchi defeated Anish Mishra of East Singhbhum by 21-18 16-21 21-17 in the final of the Men’s singles category to win the 49th Mohan Memorial badminton tournament (state-level championship) played at Mohan Ahuja Stadium on Sunday.
The tournament which kicked off on August 29 concluded with quarter finals, semi finals and final matches played on the last day on September 2. In the Women’s single final Deyashi Kanjibiliya of East Singhbhum beat Zeenat Arra by 21-8,21-14. East Singhbhum players displayed their talent winning finals in several categories. In boys single under-17 category East Singhbhum’s Ashutosh Akash beat Piyush of Lohardaga 21-8 21-16.
In girls single under-17 Shalini Maurya of East Singhbhum defeated Pragya J Bodra of the same district by 21-17 21-16. In Girls double under-15 Aadhya Singh and Sarah Sharma of East Singhbhum defeated Aisha Bagga and Diyashi Banerjee of Gumla and Dhanbad by 21-14 21-15. In boys double under-17 East Singhbhum’s Arhan Parikh and Ujjawal Paswan beat Lohardaga’s Akhil Alex Kujur and Rahul Kumar Sahu by 22-20 13-21 21-19. In women’s double final Deyashi Kanjibiliya of East Singhbhum and Pragya Rai of Dumka beat Kabery of West Singhbhum and Kajal Kumari of Lohardaga by 21-11 21-7.
In Men’s double final Chandrajit Jha of West Singhbhum and Safi Akram of Ranchi defeated Rameez Alam and Vickey Kumar of West Singhbhum by 21-6 21-14.
In Boys double under-15 Emmanual Kujur and Priyanshu Tirky of West Singhbhum beat Devyansh and Harsha Kumar of Ranchi by 21-9 21-12. In Girls single under-13 contest Sarah Sharma of East Singhbhum defeated Anisha Mishra of East Singhbhum 21-13 22-20.
In girls double under-19 final Pragya J Bodra and Shalini Maurya of East Singhbhum defeated Neelam and Sheyshi of the same district by 21-4 21-9. In Girls’ single under-15 Aashya Singh of East Singhbhum defeated Sarah Sharma of the same district by 21-15, 21-17. In Boys double under-13 Amaan Rahman and Ayaan Rahman of Ranchi defeated Sujal Rakshit and Uditya Dayal of Dhanbad by 21-15 21-10.
