East Singhbhum Eagles win inaugural Jharkhand Basketball League in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct 20: The inaugural season of the Jharkhand Basketball League, organized by the Jharkhand Basketball Association, concluded at the Dhatkidih Community Centre in Jamshedpur from October 18 to 20, 2024.

In a thrilling final, the East Singhbhum Eagles triumphed over the Jamshedpur Jammers with a score of 63 to 51. Ganesh was named the Best Player of the Match, while Abhas Panwar received the title of Best Player of the Tournament.

The East Singhbhum Eagles were awarded a trophy and a cash prize of ₹30,000 for their victory. The Jamshedpur Jammers and the first runner-up were also honored with trophies and cash prizes of ₹20,000 and ₹12,000, respectively.

A total of 15 matches were played throughout the tournament, featuring six teams from across Jharkhand. Key match results included:

• Ranchi Rangers 47, Skippers 20 (Best Player: Khushagra)
• Ballers 65, Hoopers 45 (Best Player: Shubhum Bharti)
• Ballers 33, Skippers 20 (Best Player: Jai B. Soren)
• East Singhbhum Eagles 44, Hoopers 27 (Best Player: Raj Kamal Sokhi)
• Jamshedpur Jammers 59, Ranchi Rangers 54 (Best Player: Riaz)

The tournament provided valuable exposure and experience for the players, featuring a mix of senior, junior, and youth category participants.

Guests included Sharat Chandran, Director of KPS Schools; social workers Mukhtar Alam and  Azhar Khan; and members of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, including President Harbhajan Singh, Secretary JP Singh, Treasurer Pradeep Mukherjee, and Technical Head  Arif Aftab, among others.

To encourage young players at the Dhatkidih Community Centre, two basketballs were gifted by JP Singh on behalf of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, aimed at boosting enthusiasm for the sport.
